Unit upgrades are sent "over the air", so when a new firmware is available you can choose to set it as the intended firmware of your unit, and then you will start to see a prompt on your unit at its next power on offering you to upgrade to that version (assuming when you boot, you have a connection to the internet).
Below are some steps and pointers on doing this upgrade, which is hopefully quick and easy.
The Prompt
The prompt will look like this:
You can choose cancel and it will prompt you again (don't worry) next time. Or, if you have 20-60 minutes available, you can choose to upgrade.
Some things to consider before saying yes:
- You should have 30% or more of your battery power, or be plugged in (best option)
- You should have at least 60 minutes before the next time you must use the unit, and for your sanity we would recommend doing upgrades when you have plenty of free time to run the upgrade and test your setup after!
- You will need a connection to the internet (modems work too, but will use some of your data), and the faster the connection the faster the upgrade goes
Once You Start
You will see a screen similar to:
Except it will say Upgrade not downgrade!. Take the advice and do not power off or disconnect the unit once the upgrade starts!
When the upgrade is complete, you may see a prompt telling you the upgrade was complete. In this case, you can click the center button on the joystick to clear the prompt.
After Upgrade
After upgrade, you should reset all your settings, see the instructions to do a full reset. This insures any settings changed by the upgrade are back to what you expect.
Of course if you have any trouble at all please open a support case so we can assist you!
