We have recently identified some potential compatibility issues with specific Blackmagic Design gear and LiveU Solo, in some configurations and resolutions. It is very possible these incompatibilities are a matter of settings and do not effect all users. If you do appear to be effected, or not effected, by one of the issues outlined below, and want to sure your details with support, we appreciate the additional data!
Laptop Output At 1080i50 Using Blackmagic Designs UltraStudio
The first issue are users outputting from software on a laptop, such as vMix or others, at a resolution and frame rate of 1080i50, over SDI, using one of the Blackmagic Designs UltraStudio devices. We have found that when outputting 1080i50, and using the LiveU Solo to stream 1080p25, the de-interlacing algorithm on the Solo can crash and not recover unless you reboot the Solo unit. The same issue does not repeat when using HDMI output (for instance directly from the laptop's HDMI port), when using progressive output over the UltraStudio device, or when encoding to 720p60 instead of 1080p25. It is not clear if this happens every single time with the combination of UltraStudio, 1080i50 output, and 1080p25 encoding - but if that combination of gear, resolution and encoding parameters can be avoided, it is best to avoid it.
ATEM Mini Streaming Bridge
The other compatibility issue we have recently tracked is the ATEM Mini Streaming Bridge, used with SDI connected to a LiveU Solo. Depending on the sequence you boot the devices, and/or start the ATEM stream, the LiveU Solo does not recognize any audio coming over SDI to the Solo. This causes the stream to fail at the LRT cloud step, and never arrive to your destination RTMP address. The unit will appear as if it is streaming as normal, however RTMP never arrives to your ingress point. Rebooting the unit, disconnecting/reconnecting the SDI, or changing the order you boot/start the ATEM Streaming Bridge stream / plug the SDI into the Solo can change this behavior.
While not an overall ideal workflow, if you must use a ATEM Streaming Bridge, it seems to work best if you can power on and start all the Blackmagic Design components first, including the stream from the ATEM Mini, before plugging the SDI into the LiveU Solo.
