This article includes some guidance on how to properly setup your LiveU Solo Belt Pack for 4 modem support, as well as wire your camera to either the HDMI or SDI ports on the LiveU Solo PRO.
Position the Solo PRO
The Solo Belt Pack includes a shock absorbing mount for the Solo PRO itself, including a clasp and strap to hold the Solo securely in the pack. This locking strap is a good place to position your HDMI tension clip if using HDMI.
Position the Solo so that the bottom tucks into the elastic strap, as shown in these photos, and then close the locking strap around the solo, so that the side USB ports on the Solo are above the strap. Pull the locking strap tight if it is not already.
If using HDMI, attach the HDMI tension clip to the locking strap, and plug the HDMI extension cable into the Solo, then place the other end into the plastic clip, as described in the article on using the HDMI extension cable.
Insert the LiveU Solo Pro so the bottom is held by the elastic band.
Use the locking strap to hold the top part of the unit firmly in the bag. The LiveU logo should face up, with the battery compartment resting against the pack.
If using HDMI, position the HDMI tension clip on the locking strap, as pictured.
Then, position the HDMI extension cable, from the HDMI port on the unit to the tension clip.
Route the Included Y Cables Through the Provided Cable Holes
On either side of the Belt Pack, you will find two cable holes for the included Y modem cables. If only use two modems, you can still use the Y cables, or can use regular HDMI cables for the modems. Position the cables through the cable holes and plug them into the LiveU Solo PRO unit.
Attach Modems and Place Them in the Side Pockets
Once the Y cables are in place, you can attach modems to them, and route them to the side mesh pockets. Note that inside the pockets are two rows of elastic straps to hold the modems top and bottom, and each modem is held in its own loop of elastic.
The first loop of the top and bottom straps are immediately next to the side of the pack, it is easy to mistakenly put the first modem into what is actually the second spot.
When inserted properly, the two modems should have comfortable distance between them and be held by the elastic straps.
Once well placed, you can close the pocket zipper as much as desired to allow cable routing but more securely hold the modems.
Use the Side Zippers for SDI and HDMI Access
Once closed, the pack has side zippers to access the HDMI and SDI ports, which can be opened partially to allow just access to the ports when needed.
Additional Notes
There is also a front pocket on the top flap of the Pack, which can be used for accessories or batteries.
Once fully wired, use the belt straps to hold the Belt Pack on your waist, or alternately "bandolier" style across your shoulder. The strap is adjustable to different diameters.
